Pizzeria Locale Heads South to Greenwood Village
A Denver Favorite Opens in Greenwood Village ๐ #shorts

Pizzeria Locale has been part of the Denver pizza conversation for long enough that most people in this city have an opinion about it. Mine has always been pretty positive โ fast, consistent, better than it has any right to be for the price point. So when they opened a new location in Greenwood Village earlier this year, I made a point to get down there and see whether the formula holds up outside the city proper.
The short answer is yes. The slightly longer answer is that it was basically exactly what I expected, which is not a criticism. Locale's whole thing is Neapolitan-style pizza done quickly and done well. Thin crust, quality ingredients, in and out in the time it takes most places to bring you a menu. The Greenwood Village location fits that model without any real surprises โ which is probably what the south suburbs were hoping for.
What I Actually Ate
I went with a margherita and added some prosciutto, which is usually how I judge a place like this. The crust had that slight char and chew that makes Neapolitan worth eating. The tomato sauce was bright without being acidic, and the mozzarella was fresh enough that it didn't pool into a greasy mess across the top, which happens more than you'd think at fast-casual pizza places. The prosciutto went on after the bake, which is the right call. Nothing here is going to change your life, but it's a legitimately good slice for what you're paying.
My wife got a white pizza and said it was one of the better versions she's had at a quick-serve spot in Denver. I tried a bite โ she was right. The ricotta was creamy without being heavy, and the garlic wasn't overdone. We shared an arugula salad that was fine. The salad is not the reason to go here.
The Greenwood Village Context
This expansion makes sense if you think about it for more than a second. The southern suburbs have grown considerably, and the dining scene down there has been catching up. Westword covered a few recent openings in the area, including Na Favola Trattoria & Pizzeria on South University, which is a full sit-down Italian spot โ a different experience entirely from what Locale is doing. The neighborhood can hold both.
What Locale brings to Greenwood Village specifically is speed and reliability. If you live or work down there and you want a decent weeknight pizza without planning your evening around it, this location fills that gap. The crowd we saw reflected that โ a mix of families grabbing dinner and what looked like office workers picking up orders on the way home.
A Few Things to Know
The parking situation is easier here than at some of the original Denver locations, which is a genuine quality-of-life improvement. Weeknights have been the move for us โ we got in and out without any friction. I'd imagine weekend dinner hours are busier, especially as word spreads and it settles into the neighborhood.
One note: if you're coming from north Denver or the core neighborhoods and you're not already heading south for another reason, there's probably a closer Locale for you. This location is built for the people who live out there, and that's a reasonable way to think about it. It's not worth a dedicated 45-minute round trip from Capitol Hill. If you're already in Greenwood Village or passing through, it's an easy yes.
The question with any expansion like this is whether the quality travels with the concept, and in this case it does. Locale didn't reinvent anything for Greenwood Village โ they just showed up and did what they do. That's enough.
