A Denver Pizza Name Heads to the Suburbs
A Denver Favorite Opens in Greenwood Village 🍕 #shorts

Pizzeria Locale has been part of the Denver food conversation for a while now. If you've spent any real time eating around this city, you've probably already heard the name or stopped in at one of their spots downtown. So when they opened a new location out in Greenwood Village earlier in 2023, it was the kind of news that made me want to see how the concept translates once you get outside the city proper.
Quick-serve Neapolitan pizza is a specific thing, and Pizzeria Locale has been doing it longer than most around here. That history matters. It's easy for a place to feel like a downtown restaurant trying to be a suburban chain once it starts expanding, and I was curious whether this new location would hold up or feel like a watered-down version of what made the original worth caring about.
What Pizzeria Locale Actually Is
For anyone who hasn't been, the model is fast-casual pizza done at a higher level than your average slice shop. You're moving through a line, picking your build, and getting something that comes out of a very hot oven in a short amount of time. It fits the quick-serve category, but the product has always felt a step above what that label usually implies.
That reputation is really what makes this Greenwood Village opening interesting. This isn't a random brand dropping a franchise location in a strip mall — this is one of the more recognized names in Denver's local food scene making a deliberate move south. Whether that signals bigger growth plans across Colorado or just a smart read on where their customers actually live, it's worth paying attention to.
Making the Drive Down to Greenwood Village
I'll say this — getting out to Greenwood Village from downtown requires some commitment. It's not a spontaneous lunch detour if you're working near 16th Street. But the south suburban corridor has enough of a population that a place like Pizzeria Locale makes a lot of sense out there. Plenty of people who eat at the downtown locations probably live closer to this one.
The experience at the new location felt consistent with what the brand has built its reputation on. That's not a small thing. Keeping quality consistent across locations is harder than it sounds, and the Greenwood Village spot doesn't feel like it's coasting on the original's name. The food came out the way it should — the kind of result that makes quick-serve pizza worth ordering over just picking something up from a chain.
What Works and What to Know Going In
The core appeal here is still the pizza itself. The fast-casual format means you're not sitting down for a long meal, and that's fine — it's built for people who want something legitimately good without a lot of wait or ceremony. If you go in expecting that, you'll be satisfied.
One honest consideration: the Greenwood Village location puts Pizzeria Locale in a more competitive suburban dining environment. There's no shortage of places to eat out that way, so the brand has to earn customers who might not have the same familiarity with it that longtime Denver residents do. Based on what I saw, they're in a decent position to do that.
The Bigger Picture for Denver's Food Scene
What I find genuinely interesting about this move is what it might mean for the brand going forward. Expanding to the suburbs is often the first real test of whether a locally loved restaurant concept has legs beyond its original context. Pizzeria Locale has the product to make it work — the question is whether they keep the same standards as they potentially grow further across Colorado.
For now, if you're already a fan and you happen to be in the Greenwood Village area, it's a solid reason to stop in. And if you've never tried Pizzeria Locale before, this new location is as good a starting point as any. It's pretty much what the reputation suggests — quick, consistent, and a few notches above what you'd expect from a fast-casual pizza spot.
