RiNo & Five Points, Denver

Where to Stay for the National Western Stock Show & Events

The Stock Show. Concerts. Rodeos. National Western Complex hosts some of Denver's biggest events — here's where to stay close by.

Where to Stay

RiNo (closest with options — 17–25 min on foot)

The River North Art District is right next door to National Western Complex along the South Platte. RiNo is Denver's best neighborhood for restaurants and breweries — staying here means you're close to the complex and surrounded by great food and drink options.

Five Points (a short ride, not a walk)

Just south of the complex, Five Points is historically Denver's jazz neighborhood with a strong restaurant scene. A short rideshare from National Western and central to the rest of the city.

Downtown / LoDo (short drive)

If you're spending multiple days in Denver, downtown is the right base. National Western is a 10-minute drive or rideshare, and you'll have everything else at your doorstep. For Stock Show, the official Marriott room block closes in late December, so book by early December rather than gambling on what's left in January.

“The National Western Stock Show is one of those only-in-Denver things — January, ice on the roads, and thousands of people in cowboy hats and Carhartt. It's genuinely fun even if ranching is not your world. Stay in RiNo if you want the option of walking over; in January, honestly, most people don't. Book downtown early and plan on a car.”

Event Tips

Stock Show: Book Early

The Stock Show drew 750,039 people over sixteen days in 2026, a record. There's an official Marriott room block with a hard cutoff in late December, which is the real deadline — book by early December and you won't be gambling on what's left.

RiNo Before and After

The RiNo restaurant and brewery strip is about a mile south of the complex — a twenty-minute walk in decent weather, a short ride in January. Odell Denver, Ratio Beerworks and dozens of restaurants sit within a few blocks of each other, which is a better pre-event situation than most Denver venues manage.

Rideshare Is Easiest

Parking at National Western exists but can be chaotic around major events. Rideshare from RiNo or LoDo is usually the cleaner option — drop-off is direct and you avoid the post-event lot.

How far is each hotel from the National Western Complex, on foot?

41hotels, routed along real sidewalks and crossings rather than measured as the crow flies. The difference matters here: straight-line distance runs 23–82% short in this part of Denver, because the rail corridor and Speer force detours you cannot see on a map pin.

A real walk, not a stroll

0.75 to 1.5 miles — fifteen to thirty minutes each way. Fine before a game on a decent evening. Less fun at eleven at night in February, in the wrong shoes, after a few beers.

Grab a scooter or a bike

1.5 to 2 miles. That's a long walk and a very short ride. Lime and Bird scooters are thick on the ground across downtown and LoDo, and the B-cycle docks cover most of this ground too — five minutes and a couple of dollars instead of half an hour on foot.

Uber or Lyft

Over 2 miles. Just get a car. Light rail only helps if your hotel is near a station too, and Denver's system is good along a few corridors and no use off them — so check your specific hotel rather than assuming downtown means connected. The N Line and the Stock Show shuttles serve the complex. Showing the 12 closest; 26 more fall in this band and get further out from here.

How these numbers were produced

Street-network walking distances from each hotel to the the National Western Complexentrance, routed over OpenStreetMap pedestrian data with OSRM's foot profile, run on August 29, 2026. Times are derived from distance at a steady 3mph, so you can adjust for your own pace rather than trusting a routing engine's hidden default.

These are routed, not walked— nobody has stood there with a stopwatch. They follow real sidewalks and crossings, which is why they run so much longer than the straight-line figures other guides publish, but they cannot know about a closed sidewalk or a queue at a crossing on the night.

Frequently Asked Questions

What hotels are closest to National Western Complex?

National Western Complex sits just north of RiNo along the South Platte. Nothing here is a short walk. Routed on foot, the closest hotel in our set is the AC Hotel RiNo at 0.83 miles, about seventeen minutes; the Source Hotel is 1.13 miles. Downtown and Five Points run 2.5 to 3.5 miles, which is a car or the N Line, not a walk.

When is the National Western Stock Show?

Sixteen days in January — the 2027 show runs January 9 to 24, and 2026 ran January 10 to 25. It is the largest event at the complex by a wide margin: 750,039 people attended in 2026, an all-time record. The official Marriott room block has a cutoff in late December, which is the deadline that actually matters if you want a specific hotel.

What other events happen at National Western Complex?

Beyond the Stock Show, National Western hosts concerts, trade shows, monster truck events, and rodeos throughout the year. The complex was recently renovated and now hosts a wider variety of events year-round.

Is RiNo a good base for National Western events?

Yes — RiNo is the closest neighborhood with significant hotel and restaurant options. You're close to the complex, in Denver's best food and bar neighborhood, and easy to get around from.

How far is National Western from downtown Denver?

About 2.5 miles northeast of LoDo — roughly a 10-minute drive, a little longer in Stock Show traffic. Routed on foot it is closer to three miles from most downtown hotels, so treat it as a ride rather than a walk.

Is there a shuttle or train to National Western Complex?

Yes — RTD's N Line commuter rail has a station serving the National Western Center, so you can ride in from Union Station and skip driving. During the Stock Show, expect additional park-and-ride and event shuttle options too; confirm the current routes on the RTD and Stock Show sites, as they change year to year.

Is there parking at National Western Complex?

Yes, the complex has on-site lots, but they fill and prices climb during the Stock Show and big events, and the post-event exit can be slow. If you're driving, arrive early; otherwise the N Line, a rideshare from RiNo, or a Stock Show park-and-ride is usually the cleaner call.

Are there cheap hotels near National Western Complex?

The best value is typically Five Points or the RiNo edge a block or two out, on a non-event date — Stock Show in January spikes rates across the whole metro. Book early for the Stock Show and you'll pay far less than a last-minute rate.
