Where to Stay for a Broncos Game at Empower Field
Mile High is one of the best football environments in the NFL. Whether you're here for the Broncos, a stadium concert, or just want to say you've been — here's where to stay.
Your Options
LoDo & Union Station (33–38 min walk)
Where most Broncos visitors end up, and rightly — but book it for the dinner and the pre-game, not the proximity. Routed on foot it is 1.6 to 1.9 miles across the South Platte, so plan on a bit over half an hour each way or a short ride. Union Station, Larimer Square and dozens of bars are right there when you get back.
Jefferson Park (closest — 11 min walk)
Just north of the stadium, and the only side where a hotel is a short walk: the Courtyard Denver Downtown West routes at 0.55 miles, about eleven minutes. That is the single closest property in this whole set. Beyond it the options thin out fast, but you get stadium and skyline views and a few genuinely good neighborhood bars.
LoHi & Speer (22–24 min walk)
North of the stadium across I-25, and quietly the best compromise: the Hampton Inn & Suites Speer and the Fairfield Downtown both route at about 1.1 miles, closer than anything in LoDo. Strong restaurant and bar scene, and a solid base if you are here for more than the game.
“Game days at Mile High are legitimately fun even if you're not a Broncos fan. Stay in LoDo and walk over if the weather is decent — just know it is a real 35 minutes, not the fifteen everyone tells you. Walk or ride back for dinner on Larimer Square. The altitude is something you notice: 5,280 feet hits different by the fourth quarter.”

Best Hotels Near Empower Field for Every Trip
Best for a game day
LoDo & Union Station
Walk across the river to the stadium if the weather is with you, ride if it is not, then Larimer Square for dinner afterwards. The best mix of food and pre-game atmosphere, even though it is not the closest ground.

Jefferson Park & the Highlands edge
A step out from prime LoDo and usually cheaper, with much the same walk. Pair it with a midweek concert or a non-premium game date and you'll pay far less than a peak Sunday-home-game rate.

Downtown full-service
The 4-star and luxury flags cluster downtown around Union Station — full-service hotels a little over half an hour on foot from the stadium, or a few minutes by car, with the city's best dining on the doorstep.

Walk Over, Rideshare Back
The walk from LoDo is a real 1.6 to 1.9 miles, so treat it as part of the day rather than a hop. Afterwards, Uber surges hard right at the stadium — walking ten minutes east before you summon a car reliably saves money and time.
The Altitude is Real
Empower Field sits at 5,280 feet. If you're flying in from sea level, pace yourself on the alcohol — the altitude amplifies everything, especially in the hot sun of a September game.
Pre-Game on Larimer Square
The blocks around Larimer Square and LoDo fill with orange before every home game. It's genuinely one of the better pre-game atmospheres in the NFL. Get there early enough to enjoy it.

How far is each hotel from Empower Field, on foot?
41hotels, routed along real sidewalks and crossings rather than measured as the crow flies. The difference matters here: straight-line distance runs 23–82% short in this part of Denver, because the rail corridor and Speer force detours you cannot see on a map pin.
Walk it
Under 0.75 miles on foot, about fifteen minutes at a normal pace. Walk it and don't think about parking.

A real walk, not a stroll
0.75 to 1.5 miles — fifteen to thirty minutes each way. Fine before a game on a decent evening. Less fun at eleven at night in February, in the wrong shoes, after a few beers.

Grab a scooter or a bike
1.5 to 2 miles. That's a long walk and a very short ride. Lime and Bird scooters are thick on the ground across downtown and LoDo, and the B-cycle docks cover most of this ground too — five minutes and a couple of dollars instead of half an hour on foot. Uber or Lyft
Over 2 miles. Just get a car. Light rail only helps if your hotel is near a station too, and Denver's system is good along a few corridors and no use off them — so check your specific hotel rather than assuming downtown means connected. Empower Field at Mile High station is one stop from Union Station on the E or W line, about four minutes.

How these numbers were produced
Street-network walking distances from each hotel to the Empower Fieldentrance, routed over OpenStreetMap pedestrian data with OSRM's foot profile, run on August 29, 2026. Times are derived from distance at a steady 3mph, so you can adjust for your own pace rather than trusting a routing engine's hidden default.
These are routed, not walked— nobody has stood there with a stopwatch. They follow real sidewalks and crossings, which is why they run so much longer than the straight-line figures other guides publish, but they cannot know about a closed sidewalk or a queue at a crossing on the night.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you walk from downtown Denver hotels to Empower Field?
You can, but it is further than almost every guide says. Routed on foot, Union Station hotels sit 1.6 to 1.9 miles from the stadium and LoDo is much the same — roughly 33 to 38 minutes each way, not the fifteen you usually read. The walk crosses the South Platte and the rail corridor and there is no shortcut. On a warm September Sunday it is genuinely good, thousands of people in orange going the same way. In December, at night, coming back, most people order a car.
What is the closest neighborhood to Empower Field?
Jefferson Park sits just north of the stadium and looks down on it from a hill, with a handful of good neighborhood bars. The catch is hotels: the Courtyard Denver Downtown West is the one real property on that side, and at 0.55 miles routed on foot it is the only hotel in this whole set that is a genuinely short walk to the stadium. Everything else means crossing the river.
Is there parking near Empower Field?
Yes, but it's expensive on game days — $40–$60 is typical for official lots. Rideshare is usually the smarter call. Post-game surges can be brutal; walking east to a quieter Uber pickup point in LoDo saves money and time.
What is Empower Field at Mile High used for besides Broncos games?
Empower Field hosts major concerts (it has hosted Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, and other stadium-level acts), college football, and international soccer matches. Concert setups often require the full stadium, so hotel demand can rival game weekends.
Is it worth staying in Jefferson Park vs downtown for a game?
Jefferson Park is closer and has a couple of good neighborhood bars — Jefferson Park Pub and Briar Common — but the hotel selection is thin — essentially the Courtyard Downtown West. Most people stay in LoDo or downtown anyway and accept a 33-plus minute walk or a five-minute car, because the food and the pre-game are better there.
Is there a shuttle or train to Empower Field at Mile High?
Yes — Empower Field has its own RTD light rail station (Empower Field at Mile High station), so you can ride the train straight to the stadium from Union Station and much of the metro area. On game days it's the smartest move: no parking fees, no post-game traffic. Some hotels also run their own shuttles, so ask at booking.
What are the best cheap hotels near Empower Field?
The best value is usually a step out from prime LoDo — the Jefferson Park side or across I-25 toward the Highlands — paired with a non-premium date. Broncos home games and stadium concerts spike rates citywide, so booking early and avoiding peak weekends is where the real savings are.
Are there 4-star or luxury hotels near Empower Field?
Yes — the full-service and upscale flags are concentrated downtown and around Union Station. Be clear-eyed about the distance: routed on foot that is 33 to 40 minutes, or a short ride. What you are buying is the dining and the pre-game, not proximity.
