The name alone tells you there's a conflict of interest going on. Donuts and breakfast burritos aren't usually competing for the same stomach real estate, but Anna's Donuts & Burritos somehow makes it a genuine debate. I stopped in after seeing the South Broadway location pop up β€” it opened in late 2024 in a former LaMar's spot at 2120 South Broadway β€” and I wasn't sure what to expect from a donut shop that apparently takes its burritos just as seriously.

The Burritos Are the Real Surprise

The breakfast burrito is the kind of thing that earns a return visit. They press the tortilla with cheese directly on it before building the burrito, so you get this slightly crispy, gooey exterior that's closer to a grilled cheese situation than a standard flour wrap. It sounds like a small detail, and then you actually eat it and realize it's not small at all. The al pastor option in particular was solid β€” good flavor, generous fill, the kind of burrito that holds you until dinner without much effort. Denver has no shortage of breakfast burritos, and these are in the conversation.

The Donuts Hold Their Own

That said, the donuts aren't just an afterthought. The original Anna's built a following on a strip of locally-owned donut shops along Arapahoe Road in the southern suburbs, and the South Broadway location carries that reputation. The cronut specifically has developed its own word-of-mouth β€” people make dedicated stops for it, which is a pretty reliable signal. The classics are well executed: nothing too experimental, nothing that feels like it's trying too hard. If you're in a donut mood rather than a burrito mood, you're still in the right place.

What Works and What Doesn't

The menu staying focused is a genuine strength here. It's donuts and burritos. That's it. No sprawling menu, no identity crisis, no twelve-page laminated booklet. You make a decision, you move on with your day. For a grab-and-go breakfast stop, that kind of simplicity is underrated. Service on my visit was quick, no fuss.

The one thing worth knowing: this is a casual counter-service setup, not a sit-down experience. If you're picturing a leisurely Saturday morning with a table and a coffee, this probably isn't that place. It's more of a pick-it-up-and-go situation, which works perfectly fine if that's what you're after. South Broadway has decent street presence, but parking in that stretch can require a little patience depending on when you show up.

Getting There and What to Order

The South Broadway location makes this accessible if you're anywhere in central or south Denver β€” you don't have to make a special suburban pilgrimage the way you would for the original Greenwood Village location. If you're making a first visit, I'd get a burrito with al pastor and at least one cronut. That covers both sides of the menu and gives you a real read on what they do well. Weekday mornings are probably your best bet for getting in and out quickly. On weekends it's reasonable to expect a line, especially once more people figure out this location exists.

Anna's isn't reinventing anything β€” it's just doing two specific things well and not overcomplicating it. That's enough. If you're on South Broadway for any reason, it's an easy stop worth making.
