The fruit pastries are what everyone's talking about, but they might not be the reason to go. That's not a knock β it's actually a compliment to how good everything else is at Maison Shelby, a French patisserie that opened about two months ago on South Broadway in the Baker neighborhood.

What's Actually Going On Here
The viral draw is the hyper-realistic fruit pastries β peaches, strawberries, lemons, whatever's in the case that day β made with a white chocolate shell, real fruit filling, and ganache. They look almost too good to eat, which is probably why they're all over people's feeds right now. The catch is that they sell out fast. On weekdays they're usually gone by mid-afternoon. On weekends, we're talking 11 AM. If you're driving over on a Saturday morning thinking you'll cruise in at noon, you're going to be disappointed and staring at an empty case.
What I'd Actually Order
Here's the thing nobody in the comments seems to be talking about: the croissants. They're massive, genuinely flaky, buttery in the way a good French croissant should be β not greasy, not dense, not that disappointing half-laminated thing you get at most places calling themselves a patisserie. These are some of the best croissants I've had in Denver. If I showed up and the fruit case was empty, I'd walk out with two croissants and feel fine about it. Better than fine, actually.
The fruit pastries are worth trying if the timing works out. They're delicate and the execution is impressive β the white chocolate shell pulls off the visual trick without tasting like a novelty. The filling is real fruit, which sounds basic but matters. The ganache brings it together. It's a well-made thing. I just think the croissants are the more repeatable order.
A Few Practical Notes
Maison Shelby is at 2120 S Broadway, which puts it in that stretch of South Broadway where parking can be a little inconsistent depending on the day. Not a dealbreaker, but worth keeping in mind if you're driving over specifically for the fruit pastries β the last thing you want is to circle the block and then find out they're sold out anyway.
The place has only been open two months, so it's still in that early window where lines and sell-outs are partly hype and partly genuine demand. My guess is both. Denver has been getting more serious about bakeries over the last couple of years, and Maison Shelby fits that pattern β French technique, a tight menu, a specific visual identity that earns the social media attention without feeling like the food is secondary.
If you want the fruit pastries and you're going on a weekend, get there early. Like, actually early β before 10 AM if you can manage it. Weekday afternoons are a safer bet for the croissants since the fruit case might already be cleared out anyway and you'll have the place more to yourself.
The Bottom Line
Maison Shelby is worth the trip on South Broadway. Go for the fruit pastries if you can get there in time, but if you miss them, the croissants alone make it a good stop. Either way, I'd go back.
