Snowl on Parker Road Might Be the Best Dessert Stop in the Suburbs

Dessert Sequel Is Better Than The Original ๐Ÿจ#shorts

The second location is better than the first. That's not something you hear very often, and it's the main reason I wanted to write this up. Snowl opened their Parker Road spot in Aurora after the original location had already built up a following, and usually when a dessert shop does that, you get a carbon copy that's slightly worse and slightly more crowded. That's not what happened here.

I'd seen the original Snowl before but hadn't been in a long time. When I heard they had a second location out on Parker Road, I made a point to check it out. My expectations were pretty middle-of-the-road going in โ€” good taiyaki, decent boba, fine. What I found was a shop that felt more put-together than most dessert spots I've been to in the Denver metro area.

What You're Actually Getting

The taiyaki is the move here. If you don't know what taiyaki is, it's a fish-shaped waffle pastry โ€” crispy on the outside, soft inside, usually filled with something sweet. Snowl does it well. Better than well, actually. The exterior has the right amount of crunch without being overdone, and the filling-to-shell ratio is where it needs to be. It's the kind of thing you want to eat while it's still warm, so don't sit on it.

Beyond the taiyaki, they've got ice cream, boba, and shaved ice. I tried the boba and it was solid โ€” not life-changing, but consistently made and not overly sweet, which is a problem at a lot of boba spots. The shaved ice is worth getting if you're there on a warmer day. The portion sizes are generous enough that one item is usually enough for a person, which matters when you're trying to keep the bill reasonable at a dessert shop.

The Space Itself

The Parker Road location is bright. Like, noticeably bright โ€” good lighting, clean surfaces, the kind of place where you actually want to sit and stay for a bit rather than grab and go. K-Pop plays in the background at a volume that works. It's not so loud you can't have a conversation, but it gives the space a personality that makes it feel different from your average ice cream counter. If you're bringing kids, they're going to like it in here. The atmosphere does a lot of the work.

Denver has some strong competition in the dessert space โ€” places like D Bar have been around long enough to earn their reputation โ€” but most of those are in the city proper. Out in Aurora, Snowl is doing something that doesn't have a lot of direct competition at this price point, and that matters. You're not driving out here and settling. You're driving out here for something specific.

A Few Practical Things

Parker Road can be a bit of a corridor situation โ€” a lot of strip malls, a lot of signal lights โ€” so factor that in if you're coming from Denver proper. It's not a painful drive, but it's not a quick pop-over either. The upside is that parking is easy, which is more than you can say for a lot of dessert spots closer to the city.

I'd go on a weekday afternoon if you can. Weekends are probably going to have a line, and this is not the kind of place where waiting outside makes the experience better. Families with younger kids will find the setup pretty accommodating โ€” nothing on the menu is complicated to navigate, and the environment is relaxed.

The Bottom Line

Snowl on Parker Road is worth the trip if you're already in Aurora or heading that direction. If you've been to the first location and liked it, this one is a step up. Get the taiyaki while it's hot, grab a boba, and don't overthink it.
