Most Denverites don't cross the city line into Aurora for food, and I think that's a mistake. The restaurant scene out here โ especially along corridors like East Colfax, East Iliff, and Havana Street โ is some of the most legitimate ethnic food in the entire metro. I've been making the drive for years, and every time I put together a video like this one, I find spots I can't believe aren't more talked about. These eight places are a good example of why Aurora deserves more attention.

Royal Taw Win Thai & Burmese Restaurant
Just outside Lowry on Yosemite Street, Royal Taw Win does Thai and Burmese food in a setting that's about as low-key as it gets. The papaya salads here are the best I've had in the area โ fresh, well-balanced, and they don't hold back on the heat if you ask for it. The noodle dishes lean heavily spiced, which I appreciate. This is a 4.8-star spot that most people a few miles west in Denver have never heard of.
Woo Ri Korean Restaurant
Finding Woo Ri takes a little effort โ it's tucked far back in a strip mall on South Parker Road, sharing a parking lot with Golden Banh Mi. The place is tiny with limited seating, so off-peak timing helps. What you're coming for is the house-made kimchi, which is noticeably better than what you get at a lot of Korean restaurants around Denver. The kimchi jjigae, sundubu jjigae, and bibimbap are all solid, and most dishes land in the $10โ$20 range. Another 4.8-star rating, and honestly it earns it.
Havana Street Night Market
Quick note: Havana Street Night Market is the sponsor of this video, so I want to be upfront about that. It's not a restaurant โ it's an outdoor community market event put on by the On Havana Street Business Improvement District and Bonfire Event Co. It takes place in the parking lot of Tokoyo (formerly Izakaya Tokoyo) at the corner of Havana and Yale, running from 6 PM to 10 PM on the last Saturday of the month, May through September. If you're already planning to eat your way through Aurora on a Saturday evening, it's worth building the night around.
Cafe Paprika
Cafe Paprika has been on East Mississippi Avenue for roughly 30 years, which tells you something. It's a family-run Moroccan and Mediterranean restaurant, and the menu reflects that kind of long-term commitment to doing a few things well. The Bastilla โ a sweet and savory meat pie in flaky pastry topped with cinnamon and sugar โ is the dish I'd tell anyone to order first. The Tajine over couscous comes out in a massive portion. Prices stay in the $10โ$20 range, and it holds a 4.6-star rating after three decades of operation.
Bajeko Sekuwa Nepalese & Indian Cuisine
Bajeko Sekuwa is on East Iliff Avenue in a large building that, at least when I visited, had no exterior signage โ so keep that in mind when you're looking for it. It's part of a Nepal-based chain, and the food is the real reason to go. The Chicken Dal Bhat is a solid entry point, the Nepali chicken chow mein is different from what you'd expect if you're thinking Chinese-American style, and the traditional goat dishes are worth exploring if you're comfortable with that. Rated 4.6 stars and worth the minor effort of actually finding the front door.
ALPACA CHASQUI Charbroiled Chicken & coffee
Also on East Iliff, ALPACA CHASQUI looks like a boba shop or coffee spot from the outside, which I think contributes to people walking past it without a second thought. That's a miss. Inside, it's a Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken spot with ceviche, lomo saltado, and Inca Kola on the menu. Peruvian rotisserie chicken has a specific preparation โ different marinade, different char โ and it's done well here. The price range runs $10โ$50 depending on what you order, and it sits at 4.6 stars.
Il Forno di Tutti
Il Forno di Tutti is a 25-seat Italian restaurant on South Havana Street, and the chef previously worked at Parisi on Tennyson, which has a strong reputation in Denver. The focus here is fresh handmade Northern Italian pasta and fresh bread, and at this size, they're able to keep quality consistent. It's a bit more of a commitment price-wise at $20โ$30, but for that style of cooking in a room that small, it makes sense. Rated 4.8 stars. If you're the kind of person who pays attention to pasta, this one is worth your time.
Urban Burma
Urban Burma is a Burmese food stall inside Mango House on East Colfax Avenue โ a community space and food hall built to support refugees and immigrants. The context matters here, and I think it adds something to the experience of eating there. The Shan Noodles are the standout: a spiced chicken broth noodle soup that's warming and genuinely well-constructed. The paratha is worth getting alongside it. Prices run $10โ$20, and it's rated 4.8 stars. Mango House itself is an interesting place to spend some time, separate from the food.
---
Aurora's food scene doesn't have a great marketing machine behind it, which is probably why so much of it stays under the radar. What it does have is decades of immigrant communities building restaurants that don't need to perform for anyone โ they're just cooking the food. That combination of longevity, authenticity, and low prices makes this part of the metro genuinely worth the drive. I'll keep coming back out here, and I think if you give a few of these spots a shot, you probably will too.
