How King Dumpling Got On My Radar
Is King Dumpling The New King? 🥟

The Denver metro dumpling scene has been moving fast lately. New spots keep opening up, and enough of them have been genuinely good that I've stopped being skeptical when something new pops up. King Dumpling opened recently in Louisville, and the name alone was enough to make me curious. Bold claim. I wanted to see if they could back it up.
Louisville isn't exactly a hike from Denver, but it's not around the corner either. I don't make that drive unless I think there's a real reason to. From what I was hearing, the dumplings here were handmade, generously stuffed, and worth the trip. That's a short enough pitch to get me in the car.
What You're Getting Into
King Dumpling is a newer spot, so it still has that early energy — staff dialing things in, the menu still feeling fresh. That's not a complaint. Some of my favorite finds have been places I caught early. The setup is straightforward, focused on dumplings without trying to be everything to everyone. I appreciate that kind of focus. It usually means the thing they're actually making gets more attention.
The dumplings themselves are big. Not novelty big, just genuinely sized well — the kind where you feel like you're getting something real on your plate rather than a few bites dressed up to look like a meal. And the handmade part shows. There's a difference in texture between something handmade and something that came out of a bag, and King Dumpling is clearly in the former camp. The wrappers have that slight chew and weight that you lose when things get mass-produced.
What Worked
The filling-to-wrapper ratio is solid. One of the more common issues with dumpling spots is when the wrapper is too thick and you end up eating mostly dough, or when there's so little filling that it's basically a carb delivery system. King Dumpling gets this right — they're generously stuffed, which sounds simple but plenty of places miss it.
The variety also makes it easy to find something you'll like. I'm not going to rattle off every option because I didn't try everything on the menu in one visit, but there's enough range that people with different preferences or dietary considerations aren't going to feel stuck. That matters more than people give it credit for, especially when you're picking a spot for a group.
A Few Things Worth Noting
Louisville is a little out of the way depending on where you're coming from in the metro. If you're in Denver proper, this isn't a quick lunch errand. It's worth planning around rather than just swinging by. That's not a knock on King Dumpling — it's just geography. Also, because it's newer, the experience might still be getting smoothed out over time. I'd expect things to only get more consistent as they settle in.
I'll also say — and this is more of an observation than a complaint — the Denver metro dumpling scene overall has gotten pretty competitive recently. There are legitimately good options scattered around. King Dumpling holds up well in that company, which is a real compliment given how strong some of the other spots have gotten.
The Bottom Line
King Dumpling is easily one of the better dumpling shops north of Denver right now. The handmade dumplings are the real draw — big, well-filled, and the kind of thing that makes the drive feel worth it. If you're someone who takes dumplings seriously, or you've been working your way through what the metro has to offer lately, Louisville is worth adding to the list. It's a pretty solid addition to what's already become a strong stretch of dumpling options in this area. Not every new spot earns that, but this one does.
