Eating at Denver Airport Is Better Than You Think

Thinking Of Moving To Denver? WATCH THIS FIRST

Most people treat DEN like a layover problem to solve — grab whatever's closest to the gate and keep moving. I get it. Airport food has earned its reputation. But after flying out of Denver enough times to have real opinions about it, I've started showing up a little early on purpose, which is not something I ever expected to say about an airport.

The restaurants along Peña Boulevard and inside the terminals have gotten genuinely better over the last few years. Not "good for an airport" in a patronizing way — just actually good. A few spots here have earned that rating on their own merits.

Williams & Graham at the Airport

The original Williams & Graham on 32nd is one of the best bars in Denver. So when they opened a location at 8500 Peña Blvd inside the terminal, I was skeptical. Airport outposts of good restaurants usually strip out what makes the original work — the atmosphere, the care, the staff who actually know the menu. This one holds up better than I expected. The cocktails are real cocktails, not the watered-down, overpriced pours you get at most airport bars. It's still a bit louder and brighter than the cozy speakeasy vibe downtown, because it's an airport, but the drinks are the same. If you have a 45-minute wait before boarding, this is where I'd spend it.

Tocabe Is Worth Seeking Out

Tocabe is an Indigenous-owned fast-casual spot that does frybread-based bowls and tacos. Their main location on 44th is solid, and the airport version at 8500 Peña Blvd tracks pretty close. I've had the bison bowl here twice now. It's filling, the flavors are distinct, and it doesn't feel like the menu got dumbed down for a captive audience. The line can get long during peak travel times, so if you're cutting it close to boarding, factor that in.

D Bar for a Quick Sweet Fix

D Bar is right there at 8500 Peña Blvd as well, and it's the dessert-forward spot from a local Denver team. The pastries are good. If you're in a rush, this is a reasonable grab-and-go option — better than most of what you'd find in the same square footage at a typical airport terminal. I wouldn't rearrange my whole pre-flight schedule for it, but if I'm already walking past, I'm stopping.

A Few More Worth Knowing

Osteria Marco DEN is out on Peña Blvd near 8900 and leans Italian — the pizza has been consistent the times I've tried it, and it's a reasonable sit-down option if you're killing time before an early departure. The Bindery has a location inside Concourse A near Gate A26, which makes it genuinely convenient if that's your terminal. It's a lighter menu than the original location, but the quality is there.

DiCicco's Italian Restaurant sits further out on Tower Road near 6701 — it's more of a neighborhood spot than a terminal option, so it makes more sense if you're in the area for another reason rather than as a pre-flight stop.

The Real Talk on Airport Dining

None of this is cheap. That's just the reality of airport food in any city. You're paying a premium, and you know it going in. What's different here compared to most airports I've been through is that the premium at least comes with something worth eating. The local presence is real — Williams & Graham, Tocabe, D Bar — these aren't national chains dropped in to fill square footage. Denver has pushed to bring actual Denver restaurants into DEN, and it shows.

If you're flying out of Denver and have time before your gate, get to the airport a little earlier than you normally would and eat at one of these instead of whatever's closest to your seat on the plane. Williams & Graham or Tocabe are my first stops depending on the time of day. Both are worth the extra thirty minutes.
