The Cherry Creek Holiday Market has become a bit of a December tradition for our family. We've been going for a few years now, and every time the weather turns and the lights go up around Cherry Creek, it's one of the first things my wife and I start talking about. With two small kids, the calculus on holiday events is real β€” parking nightmares, crowds, meltdowns. The Cherry Creek market keeps threading that needle for us, which is why we keep coming back.

What’s NEW at This Year’s Cherry Creek Holiday Market? πŸŽ„

What's New This Year

This year they've made some noticeable updates. The indoor lounge and bar area got a revamp, which is a legitimately welcome change if you've got someone in your group who wants to warm up with a drink while the kids are running around outside. It feels less like an afterthought than it did before. They're also up to 40+ local vendors this year, which is a solid number for a market this size. It doesn't feel overwhelming, but there's enough variety that you're not lapping the same ten booths over and over.

The Food Situation

The food is a real part of why this market works on a cold night. There are plenty of options that actually make sense for December in Denver β€” warm, filling, the kind of thing you want to be eating when it's 30 degrees and you're standing outside. I won't pretend every single thing we tried was a revelation, but the overall spread is good enough that it's not just an afterthought between shopping. It's worth factoring in as part of the reason to go, not just a convenience stop.

Shopping the Vendors

The vendors are where Cherry Creek's market has always done well, and this year is no different. If you're hunting for stocking stuffers or want to give someone something that isn't just another Amazon package, this is a pretty decent place to look. The local angle is real β€” these aren't the same generic import booths you see at some of the bigger markets. There's actually stuff here you won't find elsewhere, which matters when you're trying to shop for someone who's hard to buy for. My advice is to do a full lap before you commit to anything, because the variety surprises you.

Good for Families, Not Overwhelming

The thing I keep coming back to with this market versus some of the others around Colorado is the pace. It's relaxed. The layout isn't chaotic, the crowds are manageable compared to some of the bigger holiday markets in the metro area, and there's enough indoor space that you're not just grinding through cold air the whole time. With young kids, that matters a lot. We've done some of the busier markets and come home exhausted and vaguely annoyed. Cherry Creek tends to end on a good note, which is a low bar that more events should try to clear.

Worth Going?

Yeah, I think so. It's not going to be the most dramatic holiday experience you have this December, and if you're looking for something massive and over-the-top, there are bigger options out there. But if you want a solid evening with good food, local vendors, and a reasonable amount of holiday atmosphere without losing your mind β€” Cherry Creek is a good call. The revamped bar and lounge area is a nice addition, and 40+ vendors gives you enough to browse that it justifies the trip. We'll be back before the season's over, probably more than once.
