Things to Know

City Express by Marriott Denver Airport is a budget hotel known for its convenient airport location and low rates, situated in a plaza with dining and shopping options near Denver International Airport.

While the location next to the airport and nearby restaurants is genuinely convenient and staff can be friendly, significant maintenance issues (broken drains, malfunctioning A/C, poor soundproofing) and customer service failures (early checkout charges, parking app hassles) make this a risky choice even at budget prices.

  • Airport shuttle service runs every 15 minutes until 11pm from the west side pickup
  • Convenient location in plaza with Starbucks, restaurants, and shopping within walking distance
  • Decent hot and cold breakfast included, though coffee runs out by mid-morning
  • Late checkout available at 1pm
  • Frequent maintenance problems reported: broken sink drains, malfunctioning A/C, dislodged baseboards, broken pack n' plays, and poor soundproofing between rooms
  • Poor customer service recovery: guests charged full rate despite early checkout and maintenance complaints with no meaningful resolution
  • Third-party parking app charges extra fees ($15/night) and creates billing disputes with no phone support, only AI chat
  • Rooms show wear with musty smells, wall scrapes, and uncleaned appliances despite budget pricing
  • No coffee available in rooms or lobby, and breakfast coffee often runs out by 9am

Would give 3.5 if google would allow. A no frills hotel. Not bad, but definitely not high end. Decent room, basic breakfast, no coffee in rooms or lobby, but very low priced if that is what you're looking for. Airport shuttle.

Staff checking us in seemed under trained. The elevator was loud and clunky. Our room’s sink couldn’t drain because the drain stopper got stuck. A base board under the air conditioner was dislodged. The door to the bathroom seemed poorly designed as it seemed to have needed a roller track at the base. The pack n’ play was broken. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was decent and early. The location was great right by the airport and right next to some good food choices. But know you have to pay for parking; $15 per night.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves one. I booked a two-night stay. During my time at the hotel, I experienced issues with the air conditioning in the middle of the night, which made the room freezing uncomfortable and raised concerns about the property's overall maintenance standards. My business meeting for the second day was canceled, so I checked out around 8:00 a.m. and notified the front desk. Despite leaving early and making the staff aware of my issues with the Room and with my departure, I was still charged for the full two-night stay. What stood out most was the lack of professionalism in how the situation was handled. There was no meaningful effort to address my concerns or provide a reasonable customer-service solution. Instead, I was left with the impression that collecting the charge was more important than taking care of a guest. Hotels earn their reputation through service, accountability, and how they treat customers when issues arise. In this case, the hotel fell short on all three. Based on my experience, I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to colleagues, business travelers, friends, or family.

More Pros than Cons My only reason for the 4 vs 5 stars was because I booked the reservation on the plane but wasn’t able to get anyone on the phone from landing until it got closer and closer to missing the last one being on the wrong side. Adam finally answered and told me. So here’s the info: Shuttle pick up on the west side in front of 512 or between 510 & 514 doors island 3 running every 15 mins until 11pm. Van has the name on it. If you see odd door numbers you’re on the wrong side. Turn around and across. You have to add your name to the shuttle list with room number times how many ppl to the reserve your shuttle to the airport. And be down 10mins early. There’s a decent hot and cold breakfast. We went down at 9am but they were fully out of coffee. Good news there’s a Starbucks less than a min walk away in the same plaza. There’s also a nail salon in the plaza. There are several restaurants but they all closed around 9pm. There’s a Ruby Tuesdays that closes later as another option but that’s a short car ride away. They do have late check out at 1pm. My key card did stop working before 11am. Do that was a bother getting back in after coffee through the side door. There’s no cups or lotion in the room. But otherwise the rooms are clean and upgraded. I’m sure you can ask for cups since they have some for breakfast. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower. Clean washcloths, hand towels, and body towels. Pillows were clasped soft. I need a bit more neck support but rolled up a towel. Mini fridge (empty) and microwave in the room. I did see a little snack area in the lobby behind the reception desk. It would be a big problem solver if they just added the shuttle info to the message in a few languages. But hopefully this helps. Grigg was very helpful in the morning.
