Food was great, and very cool to be in such a historic building! The portions are pretty small (except for the burger) so be prepared if you're going with folks who have bigger appetites. Food plating is lovely and flavors are unique and truly very, very good. Cocktails and wine were also great. Service was kind of slow, from taking our orders to food arriving. We got there at 5:15pm and wanted to leave by 6:45 so we could get to our show at DCPA... but we were pretty rushed at the end and the server seemed surprised and flustered when we asked if we could get finished up within 10 minutes. Everyone was very nice I want to be clear, it was just sort of stressful at the end. You'd expect having appetizers and mains would be totally fine in an hour and a half. Though the building itself is amazing, there's something just a little lacking in the decor/ambiance restaurant itself. Even taking the stairs down to the bathrooms is almost more beautiful and historic feeling than the restaurant itself! You're definitely sitting in a piece of history... it just doesn't really feel that way. Still is nice, though! Recommend reserving a table in advance.

After a captivating performance at the DCPA, we were looking for a place to unwind with a couple of cocktails and a bite to eat. The Nickel, conveniently located just steps from the theater, popped up on our "Denver Burger Map" list, and we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! We were able to grab seats at the bar. The service was friendly and attentive, and the cocktail menu was impressive. Of course, we had to try the namesake burger! We decided to split one, which was the perfect amount of food after a show. The burger was great and came with crispy fries that were equally satisfying. Overall, The Nickel was the perfect spot for a post-show indulgence. Delicious food, well-crafted cocktails, and a comfortable atmosphere made for a memorable experience. We will definitely be back!

The shakshuka was maybe the worst I've ever had, just two over cooked poached eggs placed in a dish of some sort of non-descript, non-delicious, thick, overly tart puree. The eggs benny were a little bit better, same over cooked poached eggs served on a bed of canned chopped up green chilis, but the hollandaise was very good. It said it came with bacon, yes, 3/4 of one nearly burnt strip placed sadly on top. Oh brother! My daughter and I went half and half on our meals, so I was able to review both meals.

I write this from my table at The Nickel, happily stuffed with incredible food. From the moment you walk in, the staff are kind and so friendly and helpful. I booked myself a solo dinner as a birthday gift to me (and a little time to myself from the hustle and bustle of motherhood), and the staff clearly read my reservation notes. I was greeted with a complementary glass of Prosecco, warm service, and my table waiting! The beet salad and crispy chicken confit are sensational, lick-the-plate-clean caliber food. I was just surprised with a complementary brownie with ice cream as an additional birthday treat, and I’m absolutely blown away by the level of service. The food is worth the prices, and the service truly makes this a wonderful experience. If I could give more stars, I would!! Special shoutout to the food and beverage manager, Saleem, for his impeccable service and warmth!
