Very moving piece. One of the totem poles has the census figures for the tribes around 1890. What was interesting is that the artist has chosen not to round the figures, which would be totally normal for numbers in the thousands. But in refusing to round away any digits, you get the sense that they refuse to erase anyone, every single digit represents a cherished life. Kind of made me cry.
