We went to Billy’s Gourmet Hot Dogs because we were craving a really good hot dog after finding out Biker Jim’s was closed. Unfortunately, this ended up being the worst food experience I’ve had in Denver. First, the pricing was wildly misleading. The prices listed on the menu were not accurate, and we had no idea what we were actually being charged until we had to ask for a receipt. Our total came to $52 for two hot dogs, one small drink, an Italian beef we didn’t even eat, and garlic cheese fries — which were honestly inedible. The “garlic cheese fries” were $8.50 ($7 on the menu) and consisted of limp fries with nacho cheese and a huge spoonful of raw, jarred garlic dumped on top. The Italian beef was so unappetizing we didn’t touch it after tasting the rest of the food. The service made the experience even worse. Google says the restaurant closes at 11, the website says midnight. We arrived at 9:20 PM, and the employee had already begun shutting everything down and repeatedly emphasized that we “only had 30 minutes.” Despite this, it took nearly 20 minutes to cook two hot dogs because everything had already been closed. Then we were told we’d better eat fast because we “only had 15 minutes left.” The food itself was extremely disappointing The hot dogs were bland and poorly prepared, something I genuinely could have made better at home in a microwave - a true embarrassment to anyone who would claim ever having been to Chicago, let alone trying to pass these off as Chicago style dogs. Paying $52 for food that bad, paired with being rushed out the door, was honestly insulting. I came in excited for a great Denver hot dog experience and left feeling ripped off. I won’t be back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for quality food or honest pricing.

Really nice people serving up an American classic with a twist. The location is kinda in a weird spot such that it's dead on most days... great for a quiet meal but not exactly hot dog vibes. Their vegan dog was pretty good too and definitely freshly cooked. But it did end up being $9 for one so not exactly cheap either. I would still come back when I want a hot dog though because the food itself was really good. I only wished it was a bit more lively and cheaper by $2-3

Can hotdogs be art? They sure can if they are made with love and an artistic flair. Especially when the restaurant is in a really cool art district of a very creative city like Denver. We really enjoyed the meal at Billy's Gourmet Hot Dogs. My wife really enjoyed the Denmark Dog and I had the Smothered Italian Sausage sandwich with hot peppers. The sausage was quite meaty and tasty, loaded with grilled onions and red peppers. Super Yummy!! We added the " Frings " meaning French Fries and Onion Rings. The fries were just perfect, .. crispy and fully cooked and tender inside. The Onion Rings were the star of the show. Cut about a half an inch wide and battered and fried very crispy! The atmosphere is relaxing, we chose a seat outside on the patio where we were served with a friendly smile. Since we came from Houston Texas heat, the evening air in downtown Denver is amazing! Quite and romanticly lit with rope lights, .. it felt magical to be in the heart of the Rino District and still be quite and private. Overall the experience is worth considering a second visit, you should definitely give it a try!!. They somehow figured out how to make the hot dog an upscale experience.

Got the Chicago Italian beef sandwich, which is listed on the menu as $12.95 and was charged $17.97, $16 for the sandwich plus a "service fee" and tax. When I was looking at my receipt, the person behind the counter rudely went, "If you're wondering about the price difference, bud, they went up." Sandwich is dry and not very flavorful. Would've been marginal at $13, definitely not worth $16+ tax, "Service fee", and tip.
