Mister Oso - Wash Park

Got seated quickly. Had a lovely server named Rebel. She was delightful honestly and very helpful in our ordering. Started with the Smoked Potatoes and Empanadas. Both were extremely flavorful. I especially loved the flakiness of the exterior on the empanada and the many textures and flavors of the potatoes which were so crispy! Then we got the Birria tacos and the taco special of the day, which was Cod with a pickled onion, Serrano pepper slaw.. some chipotle sauce and crema. Both of these choices were DELICIOUS. Outstanding flavors and cooked perfectly! Ended the meal with the churros which come served with a brown butter caramel sauce. The sauce was 10/10. The churros were great and made better with the sauce. My only small issue is the automatic 20% service charge. I say small issue because I would absolutely tip 20% or above for the service and food I had. I might have missed it on the menu?? But it was just confusing I guess because I was unsure if it was a gratuity? Or solely service charge? Was I expected to tip on top of the already 20% fee? Was just unsure of how it worked and I add it to my review only as a courtesy to others, so they may factor that in if necessary. Would absolutely recommend to anyone!!

Came through for Denver Restaurant week. Cool spot. They have a happy hour every day. Got the chicken empanada and the quesabirria tacos and churros. All were good

My girlfriend and I had a really great dinner here. The food was excellent and our server was genuinely kind and attentive. You can tell the staff works hard and cares about the experience. The only issue came at the end when we received the bill and noticed a 20% service charge had already been added. Wanting to take care of our server, we also left an additional 30% tip, which brought the total to 50% extra. It feels a bit misleading and excessive for restaurants to add a large service charge like this instead of simply paying their staff fairly and allowing customers to tip normally. The staff were great and deserve to be compensated well, but the policy itself left us feeling a bit taken advantage of. I’d absolutely recommend the food and the service, but I think the restaurant should be more transparent about the service charge or reconsider the approach.

The Wash Park location of Mister Oso delivers exceptional food and a spacious atmosphere to spend time with friends and family. The service was prompt, friendly, and easygoing. The churros are delicious, especially when dipped in the brown butter sauce. The meat on the carne asada tacos was a bit tough, but still flavorful. The barria tacos were the highlight and the consommé took them to next level. The RiNo location is good, but has a cramped atmosphere in my opinion, so I’d choose this spot.
