Things to Know
The Westin Denver Downtown excels with comfortable beds, attentive staff, and a prime downtown location near restaurants and attractions, though maintenance issues and damage billing practices have created serious concerns for some guests. Known for: downtown location, ridiculously comfortable beds, excellent service.
The beds are exceptionally comfortable—even self-described hotel bed complainers were impressed. Front desk and hotel staff are generally welcoming, friendly, and quick with check-in. Prime downtown location with easy access to restaurants, stores, entertainment, and a Starbucks next door. On-site dining offers good variety with particularly strong breakfast options. Luxury suites provide beautiful views and the team adds thoughtful touches like champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries for special occasions.
Pool temperature was cold when it should have been warm. Maintenance issues reported by multiple guests including no hot water, no AC, low shower pressure, and water spitting from faucets. One guest was charged $1,700+ for alleged damages including a glass door they claim they didn't cause, with escalation attempts ignored. Front desk and management professionalism is inconsistent—some guests experienced rude, unprofessional service. A manager was observed verbally berating staff in front of guests during a conference event. Lobby maintenance issues including active water leaks with buckets collecting dripping water and resulting odors.
Uptown is a great base for exploring Denver. It's known for its walkable streets, local restaurants, and access to the rest of the city.

Just wrapped up a 4 day stay, and overall I’m extremely satisfied. While I didn’t take photos, the hotel was clean and well taken care of. I’ll admit I was a little apprehensive after reading some recent reviews but my stay was great. Checking In: The front desk staff was welcoming and friendly. I was checked in and up to my room in around minutes total. The team greeted me every time I was in the lobby and remained very welcoming during my stay. Food: The food was really good, comparatively. Over the course of my stay I pretty much stuck to the hotel for meals. Breakfast was delicious, and there was a really nice variety for lunch and dinner. Hotel Staff: Everyone was extremely friendly and always helpful. I suspect the people that have cited issues with the staff probably just couldn’t handle a diverse group of people. The Room: My room was clean, and comfortable. Not sure what this location has done differently than others, but the bed was ridiculously comfortable. I’m normally a hotel bed complainer, but it was great. The bathroom was tidy and clean as well. Shower pressure was a little suspect but it did its intended job. Location: outside of the 30-45 minute ride to and from the airport, the hotel is well situated. There are plenty of restaurants, convenience stores, and entertainment nearby. There’s also a Starbucks right beside the hotel, which was a nice add. My only complaint: I was here for a conference and we were served some buffet style light snacks. One of the staff had apparently moved or removed some food as part of a breakdown process, and a manager was verbally berating him in front of MANY guests. I certainly understand that employees are held to a certain standard, but I found it incredibly unprofessional. Frankly the way he was speaking to the person, I would have found unacceptable even if they weren’t in front of guests. I did not get his name, but it just rubbed me the wrong way.

I just had thee most AMAZING EXPERIENCE with Eric. He was at the bar on the second floor. I came in briefly on a break just to grab something to drink while volunteering downtown. Eric was SOO accommodating and attentive! He treated me like I was staying at the Westin. Excellent customer service. Genuinely nice. Im soo impressed I’ll be booking a staycation!! Thank you ERIC!! ♥️

My wife and I were in town for stock show. During the day we visited the pool and it was cold. Suppose to be warm. That night we came back and my wife slipped on the floor from the water that leaked out from the shower. She accidentally broke the toilet seat. Next day we tell the front desk hey the toilet seat and they said they would get in touch. A few hours later I have a $1700 And some Change. - yes correct ONE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLAR BILL FOR DAMAGES! I talk to the front desk and I was like this must be a mistake, they said they can not discuss the damage but it was so bad that they had to not fill the room and I was on the hook for damages and loss of revenue. They sent a picture of a glass door that was spidered but not broken and said I was responsible. That DID NOT HAPPEN while I was occupying this room. I have tried and tried to escalate this issue and keep getting the run around from loss prevention and the manager and even corporate. I am a Titanium member and spent 10s if not HUNDREDS of thousands - THIS IS A LAST DITCH EFFORT FOR MARRIOT TO MAKE THIS RIGHT

Overall, we had a great stay at The Westin Denver Downtown. The location is fantastic—right in the heart of the city—and our luxury suite had a beautiful view of Union Station. We really appreciated that we were able to book the suite at a discounted rate through our wedding room block, and the chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne waiting for us from the staff were such a thoughtful touch! We also really enjoyed working with the room block coordinator. She was attentive, responsive, and kept us consistently updated on how many rooms had been booked. I also appreciated that we didn’t have to pay for any rooms that went unfilled, which made the process easy and low-stress. That said, a few of our guests did experience some maintenance issues—things like no hot water, no AC, or needing to switch rooms. In our own room, the faucets spat out water when first turned on, as if they hadn’t been used in a while. Our out-of-town guests were also charged a tourist fee, though it did come with nice perks like free coffee, beer from the bar, and local discounts. When we checked out, there was a leak in the lobby with buckets collecting dripping water, which caused an unpleasant smell—thankfully, most of our guests had already departed by then. Despite those hiccups, we were very happy with our overall experience. The location, comfortable rooms, and great service—especially from the room block coordinator—made The Westin Denver Downtown a wonderful choice for our wedding weekend.
Why Stay in Uptown
17th Avenue between downtown and City Park is one of the most underrated dining corridors in Denver. Uptown has been quietly great for years without making a big deal about it.
