How this is written: we run the full set of recent Google reviews through AI to pull out what guests consistently say — including the complaints, which is why there's a downsides list rather than only the good bits. It's rewritten as new reviews come in, so it describes the hotel as it is now, not as it was whenever someone last got round to writing a paragraph about it. Read the reviews yourself on Google Maps.

Wow. To call Carw Gwyn a restaurant is an understatement. My expectations for the evening were to have a nice night out with my wife in a cool new restaurant. Our expectations were blown out of the water. Crossing the threshold it is immediately apparent what a labor of love and creativity this place is. Details abound. The soft lighting and warm ambiance make you feel welcome and at ease instantly. On our visit there was a group of people playing live Irish folk music which was absolutely enthraling. The staff and owner we incredibly polite and kind. The food was incredible. I could sing Carw Gwyn's praises endlessly, but truly it must be experienced. They have more than earned my repeat patronage. I look forward to spreading their name as gospel to my friends and acquaintances.

The food and drink were great, the atmosphere was nice. If you can't read in low light I'd recommend sitting at the bar but the low light was nice otherwise. Farmer's pasty with mushroom gravy - delicious, felt like a midieval peasant, 5 stars. Takes about 20 minutes FYI Mead - I don't think I've ever had mead before, I tried 4 different kinds (one flight of 3 and a drink with my food) I enjoyed them all, especially the cherry mead recommended by the bartender that I had with my chicken pasty.

The cornish pasties and beef stew are both 10/10. Great service and delicious food. There is a large selection of mead on tap and whiskey from Scotland, Ireland and Wales. I added photos of the menu in the review but was told things may rotate or change over time. The variety of lighting and seating make this a great place for date nights, catching up with friends or playing games. We went in the evening and got a quiet candle lite table. The larger tables would be good for meet ups or larger groups.

We recently went to Carw Gwyn to try out their meads, scotch and Celtic pub food. It was amazing. The food was great! The mead (honey wine) was delightful and totally surprising. We had no idea how good it is. Going back tonight and we'll post some pics. Its a beautiful space. The side dish of mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy is a great appetizer. If you haven't had a pastie, its like a pot pie you can eat with your hands. They are so good. And their beef stew is the best with delightfully crisp bread to dip. You have to go. And go again!
