Things to Know

DC Burns Park is a small urban green space in East Denver known for its natural, undeveloped character and tree cover, located on a busy stretch surrounded by high-volume roads.

Reviewers appreciate this park as an unconventional, naturalistic escape from the surrounding urban density, though its location hemmed in by traffic on three sides limits its appeal for ball sports and active play.

  • Excellent tree canopy and shade, making it a cool retreat on hot Denver days
  • Embraced for its deliberately undeveloped, natural aesthetic that feels intentionally different from manicured parks
  • Heavy traffic on all three sides creates noise and safety concerns for children's activities
  • Unfenced dog park and homeless encampments make it unsuitable for some visitors
  • Limited functionality for recreational sports or games requiring open space

This park is an island in the storm. There's no real relaxing here. No safe place to play games involving a ball. There are high volume roads on all 3 sides of this park. Even so, if you have to be in the area, it's nice to have the greenery. Creekside Park and Cranmer Park are both nearby and are much more pleasant parks.

weird park but I like that its weird. i feel its a statement that not everything needs to be 'developed' - somethings can just be. plus, the geese love it.

Odd place for a dog park with no fencing. Traffic on all sides with homeless people taking up part of the park at all times.
