I went there with a group upon the group’s recommendation. They offer a limited mexican menu, mostly consisting of fast-food-style dishes. After waiting in line for about 10 minutes, I ordered the OGCB as a bowl, which they had recently added to their menu. My choice was tasty, and everyone in the group was satisfied with their meals. it is a self-service restaurant, collecting used trays and cleaning tables in the dining area is either not done or done very infrequently , we did not see it during our stay. Overall, it is a true value-for-money restaurant.

With less than 1.5 days in downtown Denver, I wanted to be selective about where to eat. That strategy doesn’t always work, but this time it went reasonably well at Illegal Pete's. I stopped in with about two hours to spare before my train. Even though I arrived just before noon, it took a little over 20 minutes in line to reach the register. I ventured away from the usual steak or chicken and ordered the fish burrito, loading it up with just about everything—black beans, brown rice, tomato, lettuce, and more. How can you say no to any of that? It seems they cook the fish to order (possibly fried), which added roughly another 15 minutes before my burrito was ready. Lesson learned: if you’re coming to Illegal Pete's for lunch on a tight schedule, plan for a longer wait or you might be late to your next appointment. I liked the burrito. The fish was there, though it was hard to gauge how much since I had to eat quickly to catch my train out of the city and there was so much other ingredients. Overall, it was good—nothing extraordinary—but I’d still choose this place over Chipotle or other chains. Friendly staff (not sure about the bar staff), local vibe, very crowded and clearly popular. No regrets. Finally, the burritos are huge and could easily carry you through the day if, like me, you tend to eat just one meal a day.

Great place for quick protein fix. Even at the end of the shift, the food was fresh and the server mixed it well. A little pricy. $12 for steak and salad naked burrito. Still good for a quick drop by if you are near the railroad!

In researching where to eat in Denver, this restaurant came up multiple times so I put it on the list of MUST VISIT places. When I arrived, I was very underwhelmed. Idk if it was just hyped up too much or what, but it felt like a regular chipotle, freebirds, etc. Nothing special about the place that I could tell. I got a burrito bowl and chips, which was good, but really messed my stomach up. I took home leftovers and ended up throwing them away because my stomach was so destroyed after my visit. The staff were great, the restaurant had indoor and outdoor seating, which was great, but it just seemed like an average place. Nothing great about it, nothing bad. Just a spot for lunch. 3.5 stars overall.
